The application of heat of any kind, or drying the leaves will take away the sting, so sauteeing would be a great way to prepare nettles. I'll have to do this next week when I go foraging again! Good idea, Kimberly!

I found nettles growing spontaneously by the kids' sandbox last year. Have lived here 10 years and never seen that! I collected them to make tea.

What do you think about sauteeing in better and garlic? Would it get rid of the stings?

Thanks! I am borrowing a Cannon 40D SLR, and hope to purchase one of my own when I can raise enough cash to justify the purchase. I have most of the lenses for it already (which will fit any Canon body), so we'll see what I end up with. I'd really like to get one more super zoom lens so that I don't have to get so close to the wildlife (I have to wait a looooong time for the birds to feel comfortable with my presence right now)!

And you're so right, snow puts off such gorgeous, flawless light. I'm not a fan of winter, but i'll admit that it sure makes photography fun (and makes those birdies look oh so cozy!)

I really need to get a new bird feeder-ours blew down a while ago and broke. I miss having little birds feeding at ours in the winter.

The seminar sounds very interesting. I heard someone on Tv recently talking about how they predict in the not too distant future our current way of thinking in terms of how to run a successful businesses will be replaced with a new vision of one that focuses on exactly what your Mr. Eisenstein is asserting. Hope it catches on. Sounds like a path to a much happier and healthier world!
