A New-ish Design

Recently I was contacted by a customer who wanted to purchase a wallet for her husband, but wasn't sure which fabrics to choose for him.  "I don't want any print, really, but I don't want something only solid, either," she said. 

In my mind, I have been thinking about this very dilemma.  Not everyone wants a big splashy print on their accessories, not even me sometimes.  So I put my hands and my mind together and came up with a racing stripe design that I like quite well.  What do you think?

Making Time

This is just a quickie to keep some momentum on my Blog. 

A little spring cold has come for a visit at our house.  First Bronwyn and now Brian and me.  Luckily I have garlic and vitamin C.  That usually puts up the "No Trespassers" sign for unwelcome microbes.  But I've had to slow down a bit to take care of myself and my beloved family.  This slowing down business provides the opportunity to look at what's going on around me. Walking in my yard I see that the apple blossoms are emerging; they're so beautiful!  And the garden is mostly planted now. It's still to chilly for the tropical plants such as tomatoes, squash, and basil, but it feels great to have my cool crops in.

 I'm still working on my orders for Stonehenge Studios, and I'm almost at the end now.  Bronwyn and I are hoping to drive to Portland for the weekend to participate in the Mother's Day Gala that Stonehenge will be hosting.  It should be lots of fun if we're feeling better! 

Here is a Tomboy wallet that I made with a fun, bold graphic print.  I love the analogy of comic strips that immediately spring to mind when I look at it!  It is available in my Etsy and Artfire shops.

And the master of slowing down and taking in the luxury of the day is our new kitty, Chance.  I went in to make Bronwyn's bed the other day and found him sunning his tummy on her blankets.  He's such a dear!

Keeping Warm

Today it is blustery; rain is bouncing off of the pavement and bending the daffodils.  It's hard to believe that it was sunny and 70 degrees just a few days ago.  Ahh, spring. 

Last week I made sun tea on my porch in this lovely glass pitcher that I've had forever.  To keep the bits of undesireables out of my tea, I used a vintage hankie, weighted with binder clips, draped over the mouth.  Just seeing it made me happy. 

And look at this fun little tomboy billfold that I made! It just makes me smile; I love the little owls!

Hello Sunshine

It's Wednesday already, how did that happen??  Lately I've been waking up and feeling behind before I even get out of bed.  I think this means I'm over-committed, over-ambitious, or disorganized (and most probably a combination of all three).  Actually, come to think of it, I feel like this every Spring and every Autumn, the two busiest times for the gardener. I realized this morning that I haven't spoken to my Mom in a long time (two months?), which is simply not acceptable (I know you're reading this, Mom.  I really do love you!). 

So.  I think it might be time to make lists again (but not here, that would be so boring for you!).

I was visiting my dear neighbor yesterday and noticed that her clematis was in full, fragrant bloom.  This is a small blossomed Clematis. It is quite delicate, and ever so gorgeous.  I stole a little stem from the winding vine and brought it home for this teeny vase that another friend, Kathy O'Shea of KoJo Pottery made.  It's perfect and really looks sweet in my small bathroom.

And in BCharmer news, I've had a recent run on production of Tomboy wallets.  These are so fun for me to make!  I leave you with this very spring-inspired wallet.  I like it that although it is warm and sunny, it is also soft and "cool,"  just like spring.

The fabric that I used is  from Heather Bailey's "Nicey Janey" line, which I'm finding is one of my new favorites (I'm so fickle).

Putting Pep In My Step

For the past two weeks, our family has been fighting a bug. First Bronwyn, then Brian, and now me. I've been feeling tired and a little "blah." But I made a couple of new wallets that really perked me up because they were so sunny and sweet. The first one is a little dedication to the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. I only have enough of this sweet Japanese fabric to make about three wallets, so when they're gone that's it.

The other is made from fabric designed by Kaffe Fassett, and it is nothing if not sunny. It reminds me of those giant jawbreakers that I used to adore as a kid. Each layer was a different color, and I think, a different flavor (although I'm not so sure about that). Both of these wallets are available in my Artfire and Etsy online shops. I'm happier already!

Walking on Sunshine

I have come down with a pretty bad sore throat, and can hardly speak! As a child I almost never got sick, but now that I have a child, I think I'm getting all of the ailments that I missed out on before.

I'll keep it short today, but I wanted to share with you this cheerful new wallet that I added to my Tomboy series. I made it for my good friend, Dianna, who wanted a sunny yellow, happy wallet. I liked it so much that I cut out another one for my artfire and etsy shops. I have to admit, it makes me feel better, just looking at it!
