A Little Birdie Love

I've started working on a fun and special project for a loyal customer of mine who has recently been diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  She begins her chemotherapy sessions soon, and she wanted a new bag in which to carry her things to the hospital.  She had a special Aunt who recently passed away and who also loved birds.  As a special request, she asked if I would applique a little birdie under the flap of the bag so that she could look at it and remember.  And of course, the bag should have a pink theme!  Here's a sneak peek at the little bird; I just finished it last night, and will put the bag together today.  I think she came out adorably!

I found the pattern for this bird in the super sweet book: "Little Birds," put out by the Design Collective.  The whole book is fabulous and inspiring; I highly reccommend it!  The designer of the bird that I chose is Anita Peluso, and you can find her work here: http://www.bloominworkshop.com/

Oh! How sweet. How lovely. I love the bird and the fact that it will bring joy to the recipient. I cannot wait to see the finished bag....but, of course, I will!!! Patience, oh, patience!

What a lovely, joyful little birdie, and a wonderful idea for a sweet pick-me-up during not so fun times. I wish your customer all the best in her recovery, and to trust that good days are ahead. (My sister is now a 9 year survivor and her life is better then ever.)

I'm so happy to hear that about your sister; this is just the type of pick-me-up that I needed.

Aww Colleen...your are so sweet! Let's not forget to mention that the bird inspiration came from your blog post about Bronwyn. You have truly touched my life and show such great courage and positivity in your own life. If I can be half that strong...cancer won't have a chance with me!!
Love Bunches!!

I know you're going to beat it, Stacie. And I want you to know that you are strong, even when you don't feel like it (and it's okay to not feel like it). Just remember to breathe. I love you!

After I gave away that Little Birdie book I had to go get another for myself! I can't wait to make one of those little stuffed owls. I just need a few free hours....

Thank-You, Jane.

And Kimberly, once you start, you're goning to be HOOKED. They're all so stinkin' cute, and not too hard to make or change to your own specifications.
